THE GENERAL MISSION

YESTERDAY'S PROCEEDINGS. . The third day of the mission began' with celebrations of the Holy Communion at 7.30 and II o'clock. In the afternoon at 3 a service for women only wag> largely attended, and the missionaries gave a telling address upon the test, "Is it well with thee?" In the evening there was again a very large congregaI tion, and the Rev. Canon Tupper-Carey gaye a seconcTremarkable address upon I the prodigal son, his text being, "And he divided unto them all his living." "Here again," said the missioner, "we have another foundation stone of theGospel brought before us, viz., the love of God. God loves all men. Sometimes i when we realised all the suffering and sorrow and sin of the world, it was hard to Ibelieve in the love of God. v Yet that was the great truth the Divine Son came Into the world to tell; 'God so loved' the <world' that He gave His only begotten son.' And it was the love of God alone that was going to change and beautify Human life. Just as the love of a mother kept a son straight when he was away from home among Strang© surroundings, so the love of God would be a power in men's lives, helping them to be pure, manly and noble." The preacher closed ibv a stirring appeal to his hearers to allow the love of God to enter their Hearts and lives, and to b_e an expulsive and impulsive power. It was onlv when they gave up the wrong and unworthy that they could properly and perfectly give expression m their lives to the love of God." After a hymn, the, missioner gave tf short instruction upon the way it is possible to become truly Christian people. The very impressive service closed with other hymns and prayer. The services to-day will be as follows* H.C. at 7.30; intercessional at 11; service for women at 3; a mission service at 8.
