TEWHAKA'S fARRIVAL. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The Lyttelton Harbour Board's new Priestman grab dredger Tewhaka, arrived at Lyttelton this afternoon after a passage of 104 days from Glasgow. The little vessel, which is only 120 feet long and with a 26 feet beam, has safely accomplished the long journey from Glasgow via the Suez Canal, Fremantle and Melbourne. The dredger left Melbourne-on Tuesday, August 23rd after coaling, and although some anxiety has been expressed in some quarters regarding her safety, the Tewhaka has arrived from the Victorian port via Cook Straits up to time. Captain Thompson is in command of the dredger. GOVERNMENT BUILDING'S CONTRACT LET. | Christchurch, Last x Night ! Messrs. J. and W. The Harbour Board decided to-night to extend the north and south moles 300 feet each. The engineer stated that after making all allowances for the completion of works scheduled, there would be a clear saving of at 'least £9OOO under the original estimates. It was proposed to absorb | £6OOO of this in extending the moles, and keep £3OOO in hand for the maintenance of the moles and walls.
