SUPREME COURT.
IN DIVORCE. By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent. Invercargill, Last Night. Gertrude Miles (in divorce) was granted a decree nisi against William H. Miles on, the ground of adultery. Five years ago the husband got a decree nisi against the wife, but it was not made absolute and the parties remarried be[fore a registrar. The judge treated it as one marriage as evidenced by two ceremonies. No co-respondent was joined in the action. A LONG LIST. Wellington, Last Night. In the Divorce Court to-day a decree nisi was granted in the case of Edward Mallowes v. Jane Mallowes on the ground of desertion. Ruth Muter, an artist, said she went through a form of marriage with Bertie Graham Owen at ChrisCchurch, and she had since found that he was already married to another woman. The case was adjourned. Decrees nisi were granted in the following cases:—John Wilmhurst v. Elizabeth Wilmhurst, 071 the ground of desertion; Charles B. Seaver v. Elizabeth Seaver, desertion; Robert Hancock v. Emily Hancock, drunkenness and desertion; Dr. William Crawford Macknight v. Macknight, 'desertion; Charles Louis Barrow v. Alice Barrow, infidelity; Beatrice Scaife v. John' Henry Scaife, desertion; Sarah Calder v. Alexandei Calder, misconduct; Edwin Hubbard v. Eliza Hubbard and another, misconduct; Hannah Woolhouse v. Frederick Woolhouse, drunkenness and failure to maintain; Margaret Neale v. Ernest F. Neale, desertion; and Alziere Bell Malcolm v. Thomas Pott, bigamy. The two last named cases were heard in camera. COMMERCIAL ACTION. Invercargill, Last Night. At the Supreme Court to-day, the case Price. Griffiths and Co. (Melbourne) v. the Southland Meat Co., a claim for £7(15 damages in connection with the supply of sheep tongues, the parties, after an examination of the stock from which the goods were supplied, «ame to an arrangement that the jury by their direction and consent should assess the damages at £550. The contract was not originally defendants,' and consideration of the case by the judge as to defendants' liabilities or~otherwise was adjourned to Dimedin.
