A Melbourne deputation, representing the Women's Political Crusade, asked the Minister of Defence to store food to avoid starvation in war time. Mr. Pearce replied that Australia, being a food-producing country, was not in the same danger as European food-importing countries. As a matter of policy, the Federal Government might deem it advisable to take the matter up. He promised to obtain a report from the military authorities.
