DO MILKING MACHINES KUIN THE COWS! Experienced users of milking machines agree that it takes fully two seasons' close scrutiny before it can be conclusively determined that the machine has no injurious effect ou the cow or her yield. Past history proves that many machines appeared to give good results for some, months, but eventually the decreased yield and the permanently impaired function of milk secretion proved how misleading first impressions are. It is therefore gratifying to find that one machine at least has overcome the difficulty of coupling the animate and the inanimate and can produce proof extending over a number of years. A recent report from Southland states that Mr. Charles Milne, a well-known and progressive dairy farmer, of Edendale, has had | the gratifying result when giving up I dairying of obtaining the very satisfactory price of £9 12a */ 2 d per head for ,his mixed herd, of 104 cows. Mr. Milne installed the Lawrence-Kennedy-Gillies milking machines in 1904, and has used them constantly during the past six years. Facts and figures of this kind are iia truest evidcjice of reliability.
