RIFLE SHOOTING.

TARANAKI RIFLES CHAMPIONSHIP. The third and final match for the championship of the Taranaki Rifles was .fired on the local range on Thursday afternoon, ranges 800, 900, and 1000 yards. Although some excellent range scores were made, the aggregate totals Avere poor, the light and wina being very changeable and making good shooting difficult. The championship was won by Lieutenant Marrett. The following are the scores:— \

i The Guards will fire a match against the Kaitake Rifle Club, at Rewa Rewaj range to-day, commencing at 1.30 p.m.,' and will be represented by the-follow-J ing:—Lieut. Boon, Cpl.-Sergt. Hartnell, Corpl. Bent, Privates Hill, Nicholls, Riddles, Blanchard, and Sadler. I Three companies, Taranaki Rifles,' Taranaki Guards, and Eltham Rifles, j will compete for the volunteer company [ championship of Taranaki, to be fired at New Plymouth on Thursday next. I The match will be ten men a-side, and will commence at 12.30 p.m.

INGLEWOOD v. MANGOREI. The above match was fired on the Mangorei Rifle Club's range on Thursday last, and resulted in a win for the home team. The Mangorei team consisted of seven men, and Inglewood nine. Appended are the scores: — MANGOREI
