Bates' •weather summary and forecast: —The . barometer fell smartly in the south on, Wednesday night, hut still continues | high in the far north. Rnin has fallen on the West Coast and- southernmost ■ districts of the South Island, and cloudiness has increased elsewhere. Westerly and northerly winds have prevailed, and strong to a gale in Cook and Foveaux straits. Present indications are for rain in most parts of the country, and especially on the West Coast/, Southward of K&whia strong westerly winds will probably prevail. The barometer will probably fall everywhere, but a rise is due in the south after about thirty hours.
