(Conducted -by " Eileen "). STRATFORD LETTER. On Jfondav evening Mrs. E. C. Robinson gave a very enjoyable bridge party. The drawing-room looked charming, being decorated with spring llpwers. Mrs. Robinson received her guests in a dainty | gown of white silk. Among those present were Mcsdames Budge, Stubbs, Glasgow, Wake, Raikes, Evatt and Miss dynes. Mrs. iS. Evatt left for Wellington by express train on Tuesday morning, where she intends spending a short holiday before leaving to take up her home at Pic-

ton, whence Mr. Evatt has been removed. Mr. Halligan succeeds 'Mr. Evatt as stock inspector for Stratford. Mr. P. Sinclair, soneitoi', of Wellington, spent the week-end at 'Stratford and left for Wellington by express train on , Tuesday. On Thursday evening the Fire Brigade j'hold their popular assemlbly, and the trophy won in the one-man coupling event, to be comepted for during the day, will be presented during the evening. J The juvenile ball in connection with I the Fire Brigade takes place early in October. Mr. Bert. Burgess, the energetic secretary, is now busy with ar'ngementf', which is guarantee enough ; for as brilliant a success as in the past.
