FROZEN MEAT EXPORT
ALLEGATION OF CARELESSNESS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. In ia letter from London to the Christchurch Star, Mr. Cillbert Anderson, formerly manager of the Christchurcli Meat Company, declared that, owing to careless slaughtering methods and faulty dressing of meat, New Zealand was now losing £280,(M0 a year. Slaiughtermen declare that the deterioration is not due to inefficient slaugh; tering, ilmt to careless handling, particularly after the meat has been frozen. Mr. Anderson's letter, which will 'be considered Iby the Trades and Labor Council on Saturday night, contained a general charge that workers under awards were doing as little work as possible to earn award rates, and that the industry in New Zealand was suffering because unionists failed to recognise that higher wages could only be justified by increased efficiency of labor.
