I The Bullish mail brought the news of Master Frank Butcliens' success in winning the gold medal for piano playing, given by Cliappell and Co., the English piano manufacturers, and awarded to that student, who is not only the most successful at the examination, but who has maintained the highest standard of excellence at the R.A.M. throughout the year. This is the first award of this medal, and New Zealand has the honor of 'leadinia off." The medal is handsome and valuaible, apart from its significance. Outsiders, as weir as Hawera people, will doubtless be pleased at the award. Frank also secured the silver medal for harmoiiv. brimring his medals, prizes and scholarships up to a total of eleven.
