AVOIDING CREDITORS
FLITS FROM WELLINGTON. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Instances of persons in insolvent positions departing from Wellington \.ithout facing their creditors have b ome so common of late that tradesmen .iave decided to show that such practices will not be permitted to continue without some opposition. The latest instance of sudden disappearance is that of Alfred Frank Higgins, grocer, of Wellington, who was adjudicated a bankrupt in the Supreme Court on Monday. The bankrupt had been traced to Hobart. Today, the receiver in the estate (Mr. A. Simpson, Official Assignee), with the sanction of the creditors, took out a warrant for the arrest of Higgins. A constable will be sent to Hobart by Thursday's steamer to bring the absconder back, and a first meeting of his creditors will be held on Friday.
