Mr. Matthews, proprietor of the Gardeners' Arms Hotel (at McKinnon) was awakened by a masted man standing at his bedside an<l pointing a revolver at him, threatening to shoot. Another man was ransacking drawers. Mrs. Mathews jumped up and promised to get the cash-box. She rushed to the door twice, and was struck on the head with a sling shot, but managed to escaped downstairs to give the alarm. The robbers escaped with £35.
