(From Our uwn Correspondent.) A social to celebrate the union of the Moa and Waitui Dairy compaies was held in the Kaimata Hall on Friday evening last. There was a record attendance of settlers and their families. A large number of Inglewood people were also present. Mr. Capper, during the evening, congratulated the companies on their wisdom in amalgamating. Mr. Herlihy, chairman of the Moa Dairy Company, added his congratulations. He referred to the strength of the Moa Company, and (favored! an amalgamation of all companies •■ ithin a ten ume& radies of Inaflewood He was doubly pleased that tut- union had been accomj plisxiitsd, as he did not intend to seek reflection at the next annual meeting. Mr. Williams, chairman of the Waitui Company, spoke in the same strain withregard to the amalgamation, and congratulated the directors of the Moa Company on the position it was now in. Mr. ißakewell also spoke of the advantages of united effort among the fanners. Tht remarked that Mr. Capper went undei the title of Mayor of Kamata, and well deserved the honor. Mr. James referred to the large attendance, and suggested that the function should be made an annual one. He also referred to the Moa Company's progressive policy and extension of business. Mr. Capper thanked the speakers for the complimentary title, "Mayor of Kaimata." j Three cheers were then given for Mr. Capper, and "For he's a jolly good fellow" was sung. The inclusion of the Waitui Dairy Company as a creamery lof the Moa Dairy Company is another step in the progressive policy always adopted by that company, and as the chief thing needed to assure a good profitable season is as large a supply of milk as possible, there is little doubt but that the Moa and Waitui shareholders will both derive considerable benefit from the longrtalk'ed-of and now accomplished union. Considerable local interest is being aroused by the forthcoming tennis dance, to m held on September 2. The tennis dince is .regards) locally as the dance of the year, and the attendance -i----ises to be a record. The Comcitiee are making every preparation for tiie accommodation of their guests, and a most enjoyable evening is assured.
