The first practice of the oratorio, "Elijah," by the combined Liederspiel and liedertafel Societies will be held in the Primitive Methodist Schoolroom, Queen street, to-night. All having copies are asked to bring them, and ladies and gentlemen willing to assist are invited. The Park Tennis Club's committee is called together for 5 o'clock this evening upon important business. On Wednesday next, at Albert Road, Mr. Newton King will hold a clearing sale on account of Mr. W. P. Brown, who* is giving up dairying. The cows are mostly grade Jerseys and early calvers, and should l be well worth the attention of buyers. There will also <be offered 60 pure-bred Angora goats and 10 half-bred' goats, all in young. With the blackberry so prevalent in this part of the district, this should offer an exceptional opportunity to farmers to secure these goats, which are well known to be the best eradicaton of this pest. Well-bred Angora goats are now very hard to procure, so do not miss this chance.
