MILKING MACHINES INCREASE THE YIELD.

The recent report by a representative of the Hawera and Xormanby Star of an interview with Mr. T. McPhillips, of Manaia, Taranaki, is one of the many striking examples where the L.K.G. Milk-1 ing 'Machine appears not only to have! maintained 'but to have actually assisted' in producing a rema rkaible increase in the yield of butter-fat. Mr. Mcl'hillips installed the L.Iv.G. Machines in 1907, and during the season 1907-8 obtained '21,7641bs of butter-fat from 108 cows and heifers, or an average of 210y ? lhs per head. In 1008-9 the herd of 110 cows and heifers gave 25,4471ib5, or an average of 2311bs per head. In 1909-10 the same numiber of cows gave 30,0351b5, or 2731bs per head. 'During the three years the 'L.K.G. Machines were in use there has ibeen an increase of over 601'bs of butter-/ fat per cow. (Not only do these figures' testify to the advantages of the milking machine, but they show what can be done in the way of practical dairy farm-.! ing. With the right cows, the right machine, and the right man, dairy farming to-day can be made the most profitable and pleasant industry under the sun. The right men are luckily not wanting, the right cows can be 'bred, and the right Milking Machine can ibe obtained on easy terms by application to J. B. MacEwan and Co., Egmont street, New Plymouth.
