WEDDIJT US. SOHNEEBETI—LAUKENT. Oil Wednesday, August 24, at the Presbyterian Church, 'Xormaraby, Miss Mathikle Cathrine,, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Laurent, late of To'kaora, but now of Xormanbv, was married to Mr. August J. Sehneebeti (better known amongst his intimates as Henry iSmith). The Rev. Shore officiated. The bride, ujio was given away by her father, was daintily gowned in cream silk taffeta trimnieu with Maltese lace. .She also wore .the usual wreath and veil, and carried a shower bouquet. She was attended by Mi-s Lauden, of Wellington, 1 and Miss Rose Laurent, sister of the . brid'e. Tile first-named was attired in , white lawn, trimmed with insertion. The 'bride's sister wore cream cashmere, trim- ' med with, silk overall lace. The bride's

, mother wore a dark tailoT-inade costume. ' Mr. W. Laurent acted as Irst man. The j bridegroom' present to Liu bride was a gold chain and pendant, and to the bridesmaids gold brooches. The bride's ' present to the bridegroom was a gold watch guard. After the ceremony the bridal party I and guests adjourned to the residence of j the bride's parents, near Xormanby, I where a sumptuous repast was par- | taken of. The Rev. Shore proposed "Tile bride and bridegroom." Other toasts f followed, which were duly honored. The presents, which were on view in the ' dining; room, were numerous and useful, including some substantial cheques. *i Afterwards the wedding group was photographed. A happy reunion of friends assembled during the evening in honor of the occasion. 1 PHILLIPS—^RUSSELL. On Wednesday afternoon, at the residence of Mr. J. Hume, Hawera, Mr. F. Phillips, eldest son of Mr. W. C. Phillips, I of Inalta, was married to Miss Lucy Rus- ' sell, fourth daughter of Mr. W. Russell, |of Auckland, but formerly of Inaha. Miss Dina Russell and Miss Ethel Phillips were the bridesmaids, and Mr. W. H. Russell attended the (bridegroom as best man. The brid'e was prettily attired in a white sil'k Princess robe, and wore the usual veil and orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of white camellias, snowdrops and ferns. The bridesmaids wore cream dresses. Mr. and Mrs. Phillips will spend their honeymoon in the Auckland district, and will reside at Pungarehu, where they have purchased Mr. Geo. Wade's farm. The marriage ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. R. Shore. —Star.
