A jury acquitted Mamie McLoughlin, a handsome eighteen-year-old girl, for shooting with a revolver her faithless lover, who was walking with a rival in a street of New Orleans. Hundreds of women leagued together and engaged eminent counsel to defend Miss McLoughlin.
