SURPLUS REVENUE. LAND TAXATION CRITICS. [Received August 27, 12.30, a^m. Melbourne, Last Night. In the Senate the Surplus Revenue Bill was read a third time. In the House of Representatives, the new land tax proposals were subjected to some severe criticism. A number of legal difficulties relating to State rights and Crown leases were urged. Ministers explained the schedules and the methods of imposing, the tax.
