BETS NOT RECOVERABLE. Received August 25, 8.30 p.m. Sydney, Last Night. The Full Court to-day endorsed a decision given in a previous case, ten years ago, that bets were not recoverable at law.
GERMANY'S DEFICIT. Received August 25, 10.30 p.m. Berlin, August 25. The estimated deficit has been reduced to £6,250,000 sterling, owing to an increase of £3,500,000 in customs returns and nominal reductions of expenditure.
SPOTTED FEVER IN ENGLAND. Received August 25, 10.30 P-™-London, August 25. There are upwards of a dozen cases of spotted fever at Melton-Mowbray (Leicestershire).
