SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Rev. D. C. Bates' weather summary anu forecast are as follow:—The passage of an area of low pressure to the southward of New Zealand caused a westerly gale in Foveaux Strait last night and to-day, but elsewhere moderate ' to strong westerly winds have prevailed with changeable weather and showers on the west coast. Present indications are for moderate to strong westerly winds, with cool and changeable weather, with rain on the west coast. The barometer ia falling slowly in the /North, but rising for a short time in the south.
