CHURCH OF ENGLAND
The annual meeting of the St. Mary's (New Plymouth) branch of the Church of England Men's Society was held in St. Mary's Hall on Thursday night, the Vicar, the Rev. F. G. Evans, presiding. The annual report and statement, of 'accounts were read and adopted. The report stated that the membership of the branch, was forty-one, and a rery successful initial year generally had been experienced. Special reference was made to the visit in February of the Rev. H. S. Wooilcombe (of England) in connection with wfyicli a credit balance of £7 2a 4d had been remitted to the diocesan secretary in Auckland toward* the general expenses. The thanks of the branch were due to those gentlemen wlio&ad prepared and given papers at the meetings of the branch during the past year. After referring to the satisfactory state of the finances and the conference of New Zealand C.E.M.S. delegates at Wellington prior to the departure of the Rev. Wooilcombe, the report concluded with special reference, to the coming general mission in connection with which arrangements are now being made by the local branches of the Girls' Friendly Society and the C.E.M.S. The following officers were elected for the ensuing term: —President, the Vicar (ex officio); vice-presidents, Rev. J. Wilkinson and Mr. W. H. Skinner; secretary, Mr. R. G, Moverley; treasurer, Mr. J. W. Harvey; committee: A ballot was taken and Messrs. R. N. Renaud, T. V. Mackay, W. P. Crawford, H. C. Baker, and J. C. Legg elected. An alteration to the rule dealing with the election of members to the branch was agreed to arid other routine business dealt with.
