ANNUAL DISTRICT CONVENTION. At the second annual district convention of the W.C.T.U., held in, the Primitive Methodist schoolroom, Stratford, the devotions were commenced with the singing of "Give to the wings Thy fears." The delegates from the auxiliary unions were welcomed by Mm Lilley (president of the Stratford Union). After a reply by Mrs. Douglas (district president) and the singing of a verse of "All round the world'," the business was proceeded with. ' Airs. X. Jones was elected recording secretary and Mrs. Jemison (Tariki) press reporter. A letter was read from Mr. T. E. Taylor stating that through stress of business he was unable to be with the meeting that night.

Delegates. —Hawera, Mrs. Duxfield; Matapu, Mrs. Sutherland; Ngaere, Mrs. H. Philips; Stratford, Mrs. Cameron; Tariki, Mrs. Jemison; New Plymouth, Miss Taunt. There were about thirty present. ' A vote of condolence was passed to Mr. Masters and family in their recent bereavement, the assemblage standing. 'REPORTS. Hawera—Reorganised membership, 39;

15 subscribers to White Ribbon; 15 on cradle roll. Temperance wall sheets have been sent to SNormanby, Makino, Meremere, Ohangai. (Reorganised Manaia and also taken up hospital work. ,Matapu.—Collected £2 for Maori work. Our members are so much scattered, some being at such ia distance that we rarely see them, -which, of course, entails a good deal of writing in order to keep th°ni in touch with the work. Have one member in New Guinea and have sent 40 garments to the native girls there. Ngaere. —Membership 24, 10 active and 5 honorary; cradle roll 46. Other departments taken up: Legal and parliamentary, evangelistic, flower, mission, Maori work, literature, good citizenship, unfermented wine, and the press. Pocket Testament League numbers 60 members. Seven dozen Testaments have ibeen distributed. The sum of £4 16s has been dpcitiu in clothing. Tariki.—Five members have been enrolledl and 44 names have been added to the crade roll. The sum of £ I 10s has been sent to the Maiori work. A parcel of clothing has been sent to a schoolmaster's wife in the Taupo district to distribute among the Maori mothers. Stratford.—First to invite the auxili-
