NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIP SHIELD. WELLINGTON WINS FROM WANGANUI. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. In the challenge hockey match for the New Zealand Championship Shield, Wellington defeated Wanganui by tour goals to one, thereby retaining the shield* The combination of the Wellington representatives and their smart forward play, proved too much for the challengers, who, however, played a determined game. At half time the score was one goal each. The scorers were: Wellington, Strack (2), G. Strack and Smith. Wanganui, Andrews.
PALMERSTON LADIES BEAT WELLINGTON. Wellington, Last Night. ! The ladies' hockey match, Craven College v Wellington, resulted in a win for [Palmerston North players by six goals to one.
