MEETING OF SHAREHOLDERS.

By Cable. —Press Association.—Copyright Christchurch, (Last 'Night. A meeting of the Ghristc'hurch shareholders of the Ross Goldflelds, Limited, was held yesterday. About twenty were present, and Mr. J. (irimniond (chairman of directors)'-' Tihe chairman stated that tlfe directors had two proposals—ope to increase the capital by the issue of s>ha'f&-# atili the other that the company slioitld ,'Wer debentures. Replying to a Question, he stated that the directors for money advanced 'by them. Several shareholders considered this rate of interest exorbitant. The chairman retorteld that toe would be glad to have his £2OOO back without H interest. Some shareholders considered that unless the gold could be produced! more cheaply, it waa useless to put riiore money into the property. Dr. 'Neeley criticised the Government for the requirements demanded in regard to 'the employment of men whom the directors considered unnecessary. The Government requirements were sucih that the company was forced to have men about simply reading a switchiboaiW The meeting unanimously agreed' liftat shares be written down five shillings each. This equals a call of six shillings per share, and is estimated to produce £21,000. 1
