MOA ROAD BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Moa Road Board was 'held in th? Boardroom, Tnglewood, on 'Saturday. There were present: Messrs Trimble (chairman), Virgin, J. Williams, W. Lawrence, A. Corkill, R. J. Williams, Bishop, Collingwood and Anderson. CONCRETE PIPES. In reply to the Board's request for information the Parihaka Road Board wrote that they had been making concrete pipes for some time, and thev lia 1 proved very successful. The cost of making, estimating cement iat £5 per ton, and single about Is per yard, was, for pipes 2ft. 6in. long, lain. 3s 6d, 18in. 4f 6d, 24in. 7s, 36in. 13s 6d. The Board discussed t'he question of pipes for some considerable time, and it was resolved, on the motion of Mr. Lawrence, to obtain a report from the various foremen! as to the number of large culverts in the district. The clerk was also instructed to write and obtain particulars as to cost of moulds, etc. RATAPIKO ROAD. Mr. Anderson presented a petition from settlers on the Ratapiko, Mana and Kupara roads, asking that a special rate of %d in the £ be struck for one year for the purpose of repairing the Ratapiko road.—The Board resolved to take the necessary steps to strike the STATEMENT. The clerk presented the monthly i statement, which was adopted as fol- ] lows:—Receipts, £4B 5s 3d (rates £4O i liGs Lldi); expenditure, £902 5s 2d (in- < terest £797 7s 3d). The Bank balance ] showed: General account overdraft, £96 s 16s 7d; loan account (cr.), £249 0s Gd. i The chairman stated that the loan ac- c count 'had been practically all used up out of the general fund, and it was resolved to transfer £227 from t)he loan account to the general account. f

NORFOLK ROAD. Messrs. Marson and Parrott waited on the Board and asked that a bad part on the Norfolk road be repaired. They offered to provide horses and drays, provided! the Board paid the men. About 15 yards of metal would 'be' required. The offer was accepted, and the foreman will be instructed to attend to the road. Eleven settlers on the Norfolk road, West, petitioned the Board to strike a special rate over the Norfolk West special riding district of y 2 d in the £, ;for the purpose of repairing the West Norfolk road. The Board will take the necessary steps to strike the rate. FOREMEN'S REPORTS. The foremen's reports were read, and the following business arising out of them was transacted:—The water tables on the iLepper North, Hursthouse and Ejgmomt North roads are to be cleaned out. The widening of the Bedford road, east of iLepper road, was held over. A creek on tihe Durham West, near Bridgeman's is to be cleared out. Loose stones and water tables on the York road are to be attended to. (Repairs on the Manigaone road are to be put in hand. A pipe culvert is to be put on the Toi Toi road. SENiEIRAL.

Mr. :F. Simpson, Commissioner of Crown Lands, wrote, approving of the Board's proposals for the expenditure of £l2 15s 7d thirds, subject to the ranger's report proving favorable. The Valuation Department notified that a voucher had been passed for the payment of £220 14s, subsidy for 19091910, to the Board's account. Mr. C. Schreiber is to be allowed to cart out boulders and break , near the bridge, on the Mangaone road, but must delivered them on the road where required. The Government Advances to Local Bodies wired asking the Board to send explanations re Mr. Haverbier's objection to the £2700 loan for Mangaone river bridge.—Attended to by the chairman. Mr. C. A. Simons drew attention to the state of the Mangoatea road. Foreman to attend to this. The foreman is to put metal on the Mangaone road as soon as the weather takes up. W. Bennett was appointed foreman of the 'No. 4 division. The special .order raising a loan of £6O on the Egmont North road, being 10 per cent, additional on the £6OO raised some time ago, was confirmed. Accounts amounting to £l2O 10s (general) and £227 (loan) were passed for payment.
