THE WEATHER.
SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph —Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Rev. D. C. Bates' weather summary and forecast are as follow: — Strong westerly winds have prevailed, and gales about Cook Strait. Rain has fallen on the West Coast and southernmost districts, but elsewhere the weather has been fair. The barometer has risen, everywhere since about 4 a.m. Present indications aTe for a slow rise in barometric pressure for a few 'hours, which ■will probably be followed by a smart fell everywhere. The winds, will probably back to northerly everywhere, and increase after about sixteen hours. The weather will probably continue fine over to-morrow in most partis, but with increasing haziness, heralding a decided diange.
