CANADIAN GOLD FIND
THE WELD RUSH UNJUSTIFIED. By Cable. —Press Association.—Copyright Received August 18, 10.30 p.m. London, August 18. Lord Strathcona (Canadian High Commissioner) publishes Surveyor R. McConnell's official report regarding the Stewart gold gold discovery. The prospectors' assays run from three to eight dollars of gold per ton. The vein matter is abundant, but it is> doubtful if it can be extricated l with profit. The ore, however, is sufficiently promising to justify some exploration. Much of the mountain is only prospeetable by ballooi transportation. The difficulties are surmountable if the deposits prove valuable. The find does not justify the wild rush to a rugged alpine country, which is dangerous to inexperienced men.
