Wellington, Last (Night.

CLAIMS OF OLD SOLDIERS.

Mr. Okey asked about the public notification of claim forma for old soldiers. He received a reply to-day as follows: It is not a fact that no public notification has been given in the newspapers. A considerable number of newspapers have from time to time given publicity to the matter in their columns, and Stipendiary Magistrates have been authorised to advertise in the local newspapers when they consider it necessary to do so. In addition, printed posters, clearly stating that these claims are being heard by Magistrates, and that application forms are obtainable at all Chief Post Offices in the Dominion,- have been exhibited at railway stations, post offices and land offices, and other public places. j

Mr. Okey also asked whether, in order to enable suppliers of milk to the different dairy factories to check the teats made by factory managers at any time, he will allow graders at the different stations to teat the milk of any supplier on payment of cost of such test?— The answer was: Samples of milk are tested for butter fat free of charge if taken in the presence of a representative of the factory and forwarded through the secretary or manager of the factory to the Director of Dairy Produce, Customs Buildings, Wellington. The dairy companies and suppliers are generally aware of this. It is not considered necessary or advisable that suoh work should 'be undertaken at the grading stations. STRATFQRD-ONGARUE LINE.
