FRAUDULENT TELEGRAM
A SCHEME THAT FAILED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last. Night. At the Supreme Court to-day, Arthur Cyril Dowell was charged with fraudulently sendirig a telegram to Isaac Reid, of Watcrton, near Ashburton. asking for money, and signing himself, "H. A. Reid." He was found guilty, i'he name accused pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing a of field glasses. Accused and Reid's daughter had been keeping company, and he 'had agreed to marry her. It was in her name he telej graphed to her father for money. He was sentenced to three months' I for theft and twelve months' for, forgery, the sentences to be concurrent, j and 'to be served in the Inveircargill | Goal.
