A .SCOW'S EXPERIENCE. The scow Whangaroa, which is to load timber at 'Mokau for Australia later, arrived in Wellington from Sydney on Friday. "The worst for many years," was Captain IBearsons reply, when a reporter questioned him how the scow Whangaroa had fared during her long voyage from Sydney to Wellington. The vessel left Sydney on July 15. Captain Pearson stated that gales were eneoun- : tered as soon as Sydney was left behind, and they looked in vain for the tempest to . abate. As the days passed its fury i only increased and the scow, on account of its small dimensions, was on occasions almost entirely at the mercy of the bowling winds and surging seas. It was hard driving during the whole of the twenty-eight days and master and crew were naturally very glad to readh the shelter of Port Nicholson. i
