ABORTIVE EFFORTS AT CONCILIATION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston N., Wednesday. The Conciliation Council met at Palmerston to-day in connection with the dispute between the dairy factory workers and employers. After -Messrs Pryor (for the employers) and Robertson (for the workers) had addressed the Court, an adjournment was made for consultation. On resuming, Mt. Pryor said that it was evident that preference to unionists wa9 the chief matter in dispute, and unless the workers were prepared to waive there was no possibility of an agreement being arrived at, Mr. Robertson said there was no possibility of such an arrangement being made, and the j Commissioner said he would report accordingly.
ARBITRATION COURT SITTINGS. Wellington, Last Night. I The Arbitration Court will sit in Wellington industrial district to hear all the cases set down for hearing before August Mat on the followng dates: Wellington, September 21st, Napier, September 27th; Palmerston North, Septem ber 30th; Wanganui, October 3rd. The Shearers and Engineers' disputes will be heard in Wellington, and patties,' if any of them desire it, will be heard, also lin Napier, Palmerston North and Wanganui. , AWARD FOR SHEARERS. Christchurch, Last Night. It is understood that as a result of the conference of wool growers from »11 parts of the Dominion held in christchurch, the Conciliation Commissi mer will not be asked to make recommendations to the Arbitration Court 'or the Dominion's award for shearers.
