BOROUGH COUNCIL.
monthly MEETING. The ordnary monthly meeting of the Borough Council was held last night, Present: His Worship the Mayor (Mr. G. Tißch), Councillors F. C. J. BeUringwy F. E. Wilson, J, West, A. E. Watkins, J. Clarke, H. J. Gilbert, and G. W. Browne. BAST END BEACH. Councillor Bellringer moved that the , Council provide £lO worth of pipes required by the East End Bathing committee for draining the "Lily Pond." He praised the committee for the very useful and valuable work which they were 1 carrying out for the beautiflcation'of . this borough reserve and the pleasure of ■ the inhabitants. Councillor Gilbert agreed with the ■ latter portion of the mover's remarks, ; but though the £lO could be made to give far more pleasure to residents if it were expended on the streets in the west ward. The motion was seconded by Council- • lor West, supported by the Mayor, and ' carried, i GREATER NEW PLYMOUTH. 1 Messrs. Walter J. Penn, M. A. E. | Crocker, F. M. Grayling, and George • Pott, ratepayers in the Mangorei road 1 district, petitioned to have their pro- ! perties included dn the borough, and requested the Council to take the neeetsary steps. They pointed out that in each case their properties adjoined the borough; that the borough would gain to the extent of approximately £«f m ; rates; 'but it would not incur any additional liability for road maintenance, no I new road being brought into the ; borough. Councillor Wilson, who presented the ' petition, moved that steps be taken to give effect to the proposition, and said he was very pleased to see that this move had been made.
