WELLINGTON'S POST OFFICE
PREMIER LAYS FOUNDATION STONE.
By Telegraph.—Press Attpciation. Wellington, Last Night. Sir Joseph Ward, Prime Minister and Postmaster-General, laid the foundation stone of the new Chief Post Office at Wellington to-day. It will have frontages of 172 feet to Featherston street, 125 feet 6 inches to Panama street, and 12!) feet to Grey Street. From the footpath to the top of the parapet it will have a height of 72 feet, and to the tops of the domes of the flanking towers the height will be 96 feet. There will be four floors and a basement. The date of completion of the work is set down for October 27, 1911. The number of officers now on the staff of the Wellington Post Office is 799.
