ARRESTS EFFECTED IN EVERY QUARTER. INCRIMINATING DOCUMENTS. «_ By Cable. —Press Association.—Copyright Received August 8, 9.35 p.m. Calcutta, August 8; The authorities are reticent regarding the Bengal conspiracy. Arrests were effected in every quarter of the provinces, and include Pufin Be. hardies, who was deported but released in February. It is reported that a cartridge-making machine was seized, and that the conspirators will.be charged with offences under the Arms Act and waging war against the Emperor. The documents discovered suggest a conspiracy for the subversion of British rule, affecting every province. The Legislative Council at Simla renewed the Seditious Meeting Act till March, 1911, despite eight non-official members opposing. The Viceroy intimated that his successor's (Lord Hardinge's) Council will reconsider the wihole problem.
