HUNTING.
j The North Taranaki Hunt met at Mr. H. Purdie's, Waitara Road, on Thursday. A hare was soon picked up uear the homestead. Pussy gave a good run, but eventually got away in some . cover. Several short runs were experi- ; enced, but a big brake of furz gave the hares cover. The Hunt, however, had two really fine runs, one ending in a i kill. Some fairly solid country was traversed and consequently there were a few spills, but none of any consequence. After the meet the "members of the hunt were hospitably entertained by Mr. Purdie at afternoon tea in a large marquee on the lawn at the homestead. The repast was very much appreciated, and on behalf of the Hunt ,the huntsman, Mr. A. Cliff, in the absence of the master and deputy-master, returned the thanks of the members to Mr. Purdie. To-day the Hunt will hold a bye-meet . at Mr. F. J. Morris', Oakura.
