(From Our Own Correspondents.) WAREA. The farewell social tendered Mrs. a Judge was held last Wednesday night. The night, was fairly fine, and a large . crowd was present from all parts of the coast. During the evening Mr. Burgess made a short speech, and presented Mrs. \ Judge with a dressing case. Mr. T. Julian responded for Mrs. Judge. Dur- D ing the evening songs were given by a 1 Misses Cassie and Topsy Murphy, and a y step dance, by Mr. John Carey. Mr. Itnowles supplied the music, while Mr. j R. Julian carried out the duties as M.C. Mrs. Judge left on Monday. D The annual meeting of the Warea Dairy Factory will be held next Monday a afternoon. The balance-sheet has been issued. lfc discloses a very satisfactory year. A bonus of %d will be paid out next Monday. MJDHffiST. " The weather, which is at all times uncertain here, has made a decided change for the better. During' the last week we have had ideal weather and I hard frosts at night. The dairy, season, has made an early start around here. Most of the creameries of the Midhirst Dairy Factory Company have ; again started work, and there is a good> : prospect of this year being one of the ibest in the. annals of the company. This company have purchased an up-to-date pasteurisation plant, which is now nearly read for work, and which the Inspector of Factories described as the best on the -coast. 1 Clearing, sales are also in full swing. Some very successful sales, have been held around here by Mr. Newton King, the cattle realising, in all instances, very high prices. Mr. Randrup, of the Stanley Road, lias sold out, and intends leaving for the Waikato. .Mr. OlConnell also held his clearing sale this week, and has taken over the lease of the Midhirst Hotel, lately left vacant by Mr. R. J. Paul/ Work on the,' Mount Egniont railway has been suspended for .an .indefinite per- ( iod, some people being of opinion that ( there is no likelihood of its starting again. TheTe is also a probability of the young folks of this town holding a fancy dress .ball.
