Bates' summary- and forecast:—The winds have changed •to northerly, and the weather milder though a hard frost •was experienced last night in the southernmost districts. Showers fell in many other parts on Wednesday night. This morning the barometer has fallen everywhere slowly. Present indications are for .a falling' barometer everywhere und northerly "winds, increasing strc-ng to gale\ Hazy and cloudy weather will probably precede rain in most' parts of thef country within thenjut forty-eight hour*. ' '
