At a meeting of the Westport branch of the New Zealand Locomotive, Enginedrivers, Firemen and Cleaners' Aasociatiohj the following resolution ;\vas passed,: ''That members of this branch nave ho confidence in any schemeifor direct representation emanating from the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, and, in view of the stupidly hostile attitude of the leaders of that body towards the Federation proposals, approve of the action of their own council in breaking off negotiations.
SHEEP WORRYING. Dargaville, Last Ni?ht. Last year's losses of nocKm.iaters through dogs tilling sheep, r.in into several hundreds of pounds. This season th§ destruction has been resumed, and Mr. Bradley has had his flock of early lambs decimated by dogs. His loss is very serious.
. MAN MISSING. Dafgaville, Last Night. A man named F. Whitekouse,' cook of the schooner Isabella De tfraine, now at Dargaville, disappeared last night and has not been seen since. His whereabouts is causing anxiety.' '■ . NORTHERN. PROGRESS. Dargaville, Last Night. Owing to the steady expansion of Auckland north, the present train arrangements are quite inadequate for the traffic, and frequently much difficulty is experienced by first class passengers ifl securing seats for which they have paid. The Minister for Railways has considered the question of augmenting the number of first class carriages in use.

Palmerston North, Last Night. , The Borough Council to-night endorsed the decisions and recommendations, of a public meeting for the formation 01 a river board and decided!' to 'approach'' the Eairanga County Council to secure joint action.
