(From Our Own Correspond snt.) Stratford, Last Night. Rumours are already beginning to fly around about candidates for the general election. Mr. J. McCluggage is mentioned as the Government candidate. The names of Messrs. N. King and W. G-. Malone are also mentioned. Mr. 0. Stem has sold his property on the Monmouth road to Mr. K. Membry, of Huiroa.

The Rev. H. A. Flavell is paying a visit to Stratford to-day. Mr. G. A. Marchant, chairman of the County Council, left for Wellington this morning to attend the counties' conference.

A motor car came into collision with a railway velocipede at the Pembroke road crossing yesterday. It is stated that more is to be heard of the matter, the ganger, who was thrown off the veloci-' pede, averring that the car was being driven at an excessive speed, and the driver after the accident never took the trouble to stop and enquire if he was hurt.
