HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT,

Wellington, Monday. Following is the High Commissioner's report under date London, July 30. The mutton market is weaK, although the supply is moderate, owing to local demand. Canterbury:—*'/ B d, other than Canterbury 4%d. j Beef is now in better demand, ulidi the market, is firm with a hardening; tendency. . Supplies of chilled beef aire small. New Zealand hinds to-aay, 3y 2 d, fores i2%d. , The mutton market is quiet but steady. Good' demand continues for best quality. The supply oi New Zealand is practically exhausted, and prospects for next season are encouraging. Prices:—Danish 114s, Siberian 100s. The cheese market is steady with improved demand, white 575, coloured 555. The hemp market is dull and declining, and poor business has been done. iNew Zealand good fair on spot £24, fair grade £2l l'Os, fair current Manila £2O 10s. Forward shipments New. Zealand good fair £23 10s, fair grade £2l, fair current Manila £2O 10s. Output from Manila for the week was 25,000 bales.

The kauri gum market is nrm, \vith more inpuiry. Ordinary fair three-quar-ter scraped, £8 10s; fair half-scraped, £5 2s 6d; fair brown half to tureequarter scraped, 90s; brown pickings, common to good, 455. The wheat market is firmer owing to the wet season. New Zealand longberried on spot, ex granary, per quarter or 4961b, is quoted at 34s lid; suortlierried, 33s 6d. . The oats market is very quiet. New Zealand short (sparrowbills) ex granary on spot, per quarter of 3841b, 18s; Danish, ex. granary, on spot, .per quarter of 3201b, 16s 6d. The beans market is quiet but steady, New Zealand f.a.q. (new crop) per 5041b, 355.

The peas market is weaker, and large supplies are coming forward. New Zealand (partridge) per 5041b, 445. The cocksfoot seed market is depressed and buyers are not keen to do business. The average price of bright, clean New Zealand weighing 171b per sushel, on spot, is 03s.

The wool market remains firm. Mutton and Lamb: River Plate shipments received during July, 1910: Liverpool, mutton 101.854, lamb 20,806; London, mutton 83,076, lamb 14,366; Hull mutton 14,503, lamb 303; Newcastle, mutton 12,739, lamb 1049; Southampton, mutton 7933, lamb 7886; Cardiff, mutton, 14,196. lamb 2331; Plymouth, 81; Ireland, 1930. Totals, 237,028 carcases mutton. 46,741 carcases- lamb.
