Don Jaime, the Bourbon Pretender to the Spanish .throne, has written to senators and deputies congratulating them on their adherence to the Pope. He asserts that the day is not distant when the population and army will rally to his cause against the enemies of liberty. •Senor Canalejas states that he will exhaust all means consistent wi.th prudence in negotiations with the Vatican, but is determined to keep the promise maue u» the country. The newspaper Imparcial says: "If the King; supports Senor policy the latter will initiate measures against the Church, which will disagreeably surprise the Vatican."
