CRIPPEN'S DECEPTION. PICTURE PEOPLE WAITING. SEA CAPTAIN DETECTIVE. Received July 31, 30.10 p.m. London, July 30. The Montreal Mail received a Marconigram from the Montrose saying that Crippen had no baggage. Both fugitives are very reticent with the other passengers. They are always together. Crippen has said that he is a great traveller, and is taking hi® "boy" to California for his health. They are booked respectively as merchant and student. Reuter says that Detective-Inspector Drew has landed at Point Father, and will board the Montrose on Sunday. The police are shadowing supposed connections of Crippen. After buying passages, Crippen was practically penniless. Be asked a Brussels shipping agent where money was lent, and how to negotiate a loan.
Crippen was identified two hours after sailing.
The Montrose is due at Father Point an Sunday morning. London and 'New York papers devote •oliinnns daily to the Crippen ease, and •cores of men with cinematographs are waiting at Father Point.
The Canadian Government has instructed the Laurentic, in the interests of justice, to transmit official messages only.
Detective-InspectoT Drew was loudly cheered l on disembarking, and was pestered' by photographers and pressmen.
Four men aboard the Montrose are detailed to watch Crippen.
lA Daily Mail Marconi message from the Montrose states that Le Neve's action in squeezing Crippen's hand roused the captain's suspicions. Her man's nat was packed with paper to make it fit. Crippen carries a revolver in his hip' pocket, and reads Pickwick Papers.
Mrs. Ginnett and other friends of Mrs. Crippen are awaiting the arrival of the Montrose.
It is expected that Crippen will be taken to Quebec after his arrest.
