TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. The Executive of the Taranaki Hockey Association met on Tuesday night, when there were present, Messrs. P. Clapnam (Carrington Road) in the chair, W. H. Wood (New Plymouth), M. W. Priest (Inglewood), H. Barnard (ELtham) and J. E. Avery (Hawera) hon. secretary. Notice from the New Zealand Hockey Association of the alteration of a rule was left in the hands of the Taranaki delegate, •

A letter was received from the Taranaki Western Districts' sub-committee with reference to the postponement of club fixtures at short notice on account of the weather. The letter stated tnat recently it was deemed advisable by six of the seven delegates to the Western Districts' sub-association to postpone club fixtures owing to heavy rain and the unplayable state of the grounds. One of the travelling teams could not be notified in time, and the power of the other delegates to postpone all matches was questioned. It (had, however, since been agreed to postpone the match in question, but the sub-associa-tion asked for a ruling on the point. There was a diversity 01 opinion amongst delegates on the question, and in the absence of any association rule directly dealing with postponement it was decided to ask the New Zealand Council for a ruling. Replies were received from the Auckland and Canterbury Associations, /e affiliation of sub-associations, stating that sub-associations were affiliated x to them, but the latter managed their ow» local affairs. Sub-associations are allowed representation at meetings, but such delegates have no votmg power. It was decided that the championship final be played at the Recreation Sports Ground, New • Plymouth, on the Thursday following the final match in bbe Southern Division, and that the Association make a charge for admission to the match. A North v. South trial match will be played at Inglewood on tne Thursday following the championship final. Selectors were appointed as follows: Messrs. V. H. Beal (New Plymouth) and T. Phillips (Inglewood) for the North Division, and Messrs. R. B. Anderson (Stratford) and A. Thomson (Hawera) for the South Division. Messrs. Beal, Phillips and R. B. Anderson are to select the representative team. j The proposed visit of a representative team to Wanganui, Palmerston Nor|h and Napier was discussed, but pending definite information from clubs as to the number of players available for the trip, further consideration was fleferred.
