Wellington, Thursday—Sailed, at 12.15 p.m., Ruapehu, for London. THE ROSAMOND. ' The Rosamond arrived yesterday morning with 94 tons of general cargo. She left for Onehunga about 4 p.m. and returns here on Saturday. THE RARAWA. The 'Rarawa brought 110 <ons of e;en-| eral cargo from Onehunga yesterday morning, including 12 tons of sugar, 15 tons of flour, 47 tons of cement, 2 \,ons of manure, and about 100 boxes of iruit.
THE ALEXANDER. The' Alexander, with a cargo of 246 tons of coal, arrived from Westport at about 3.30 a.m. yesterday. She *on>pleted discharging about 5 p.m. and left for Westport. THE KOTUKU. The Kotuku arrived early yesterday morning from Greymouth. and Onehunga with 270 tons of coal. After discharging sihe loaded a quantity of rails and proceeded later to Greymouth. A LONG TRAMP. Fifteen thousand miles in 62 days without a.stop ds the performance credited to the Union Company's cargo steamer Waitemata, which, arrived at Vancouver from Glasgow on May 26th. This gave lier an average speed throughout the long voyage of liy 2 knots an hour. At Tacoma she loaded 3,000,000 feet of tim!ber for San Francisco. From the latter port she took on board 1000 mules and sailed for Fiji, where the animals will be used on the sugar plantations. The appearance of the Waitemata may be looked for at Auckland some time in October. | ' Arrangements have been made on behalf of the new Dominion Steamship Co. with' the Dublin Dockyard Co. for the construction of a twin-screw steamer for the Auckland-Gisborne service. The vessel is to be named the Maranui, will carry 450 tons of cargo on a lift 6in ! draught, and 'have accommodation for 34 first-class and 15 second-class passengers. She will have a speed of 13y 2 knots and is expected to arrive in New Zealand at the end of the year.
