It was resolved that no bandages shall >e allowed except in the case of recent ; njury, when the dressing must be ap- ' iroved by a medical examiner. A discussion took place ou referees being in or outside the ring, ana Mr. Beauchamp-Platts (Welling'ton) moved, 'That in the opinion of this meeting the referee can see as well outside of the ring as inside of it." Mr. I. J. Fake moved an amendment "That, the question be made optional with the referee himself." The voting being equal, it was decided to refer the matter back to the association. It was resolved that the amateur costume he the university costume as regards cut, and that it be of dark texture; that the timekeeper and referee be separate officials; that applications for alterations of district boundaries be decided 'by the conference annually; that it be the duty of all associations to see that the floor-covering at contests he sufficient to prevent accidents, in accordau.ee with the rules; that it be a recommendation to the council that the rule re hugging and holding he strictly enforced'; that £SO and actual expenses be the maximum for professional cham/ pionships. Mr. Johnston (Cliristdhureh)' moved as a recommendation, "That the council take steps to have the amateur rules altered to read that 'an amateur is one who has never competed for a money prize, stake, or declared wager in a boxing contest; who has not knowingly or without protest competed with or against a professional for a prize of any description; wiho has never pursued or assisted in the practice of boxing as a means of livelihood or for pecuniary gain.'" The president agreed. He said that the sport should be a law unto itself. It was resolved that the next New j Zealand championship meeting be held at Invercargill. It was resolved that the conference continue in their . endeavors to secure legal recognition on the question of reimbursing amateurs for out-of-poeket expenses in attending championships. AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS. The New Zealand amateur boxing championships commenced this evening at the Opera House. There was a' splendid attendance. Mr. I. J. Fake was referee, and the judges were Dr. Napier McLean (Wellington) and Mr. T. Sharplin (Ashburton). Some very fine contests were seen, and the audience was enthusiastic. Results: Bantam-weight—B. Ellis (Wellington) beat C. Chisnall (ChristchuTch). Feather-weight E. Watkins (Auckland) won from G. White (Westport) by default; Kerr (Nelson) beat A. Havill (Palmerston North). Light-weight R. Simpson (Christehurch) beat L. Ro=s (Auckland). Feather-weight—W. .Shields (Palmerston .North) beat G. Ciundry (Christchurch). Welter-weight M. Ongley (Otago) beat T. Griffin (Christehurch). Middle-weight—L. Cade (Christehurch) won by default from J. Kronast (Otago); G. Mathewson (Otago) heat E. Geale (Palmerston North). Heavy-weight —A. Poolev (Auckland) beat W, Robertson (Christehurch). Bant.am-wei2.lvt—S. Woo'* (Taranaki) beat S. Dawson (Manawatu). Feather-weight—J. Thompson (Southland) won by default from T. Moran (Wellington). Light-weight—A. Farquharson (Otago) beat J. H. Finnerty (Southland); Spi Thomas (Mawfiwatuj won .from C. White (Westport) bv default. Welter-weight —G. Watchorn (Manawatu) beat Ralford (Southland).
