POLITICAL POINTS.

A NEW PARTY PREDICTED BY MR. HOGG. , The downfall of the present AdminisI tration is prophesied by Mr. A. W. Hogg, j member for Masterton, who expects to see its place taken by an Independent 1 Liberal party. "My impression is," he I said to a Dominion representative recently, "that at next election a great I many candidates will stand on the InI dependent Liberal platform, inclining some members of the House who I sit on' the Government benches. The I Government seem to be becoming exceedUngly unpopular, and I have not the j slightest doubt that they will lose a j good many seats. The dissatisfaction I with the present Administration is pretty general all over New Zealand. I have that from verv good sources, from men who are travel I iiw; all over the country, but it exists particularly in and j around Aucklau.l, especially North of I < Auckland, and I think that in several I electorates in the Auckland province! there will be a change of members. I j ■ look upon the fact that Mr. Myers re-1 fused to ally himself with the Govern-1 ment party as significant, and prophetic ] of the attitude that will be adopted by a good many candidates." < Do you think, then, that the present | Administration will be able to carry on?i Mr. Hogg was asked. "I am doubtful of it," Mr. Hogg replied. "I expect to see a new party independent of the present Administration formed. 4b will include the most Liberal minds of the present Liberal Party, and possibly the more Liberal' of the Opposition Party, besides those members of the House who have Labor leanings. It will be more sympathetic to Labor than the present Administration, and will be more Liberal than the present Liberal Party, who, in my opinion, have fallen from the traditions of Seddonism."
