SHEEP SHEARING DISPUTE.
A CONFERENCE HELD. By Telegraph.—Press Association. ' Christchurch, Yesterday. When the Arbitration Court met tibia morning, Mr. Pryor, for the employers, stated that a conference had been held > in regard to the shearers' dispute this morning, and it virtually agreed to task permission of the Court to refer the matter to the three conciliation commissioners, wiho would ' hear evidence and make recommendations to be {embodied in an award, binding on both parties throughout the Dominion. There were several minor points in dispute, but ho luul no hesitation in saying these could he overcome. He asked for an adjournment till next day. In answer to the Judge, Mr. Pryor said die was wry hopeful that the rates of pay would be referred to the commissioner*. The adjournment was needed to enable them to comptete the negotiations. Am' ■ adjournment was granted till next day. The parties will confer again this afternoon. Chmtchurch, Last Night. The conference between representative* of the Shcepo'vners' Union and the Shearers' Unio>' concluded at 4.30 pjn. to-day. Mr. T-vor stated afterwards that some difficulty was experienced in ' arranging that the matters in dispute • should go before the three Conciliation \ Commissioners. Under that basis a Do- J minion award could be arrived at, In the meantime it was decided to refer the $ Canterbury dispute to the three Conciliation Commissioners and further efforts would be made to bring about the reference of the dKiiiite to Commissioners for the purpose of arriving at a Dominion award. &
