r'Uy Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. "Following is the Rev. D. C. Bates' 'Weather summary and forecast: The larometer has fallen everywhere, especially in the north, and heavy rain has been experienced northward of Kaikoura and Hokitika. Strong southerly winds lave predominated. Present indications are for very heavy rain in the North Island and northern parts of the South Island, with floods in many parts, and cloudy and unsettled weather generally. A sharp rise in the barometric pressure will probably take place to-morrow in the north, but a further fall is probable in the south, where the glass is very unsteady. Strong southerly winds will' probably prevail.
