THE ROSAMOND. The Rosamond left Nelson about noom yesterday for New Plymouth, and is due here early this morning. LARGE CARGO OF. PHOSPHATES. To the steamer Inveran belongs the distinction of taking the largest cargoes of phosphates that have ever been despatched from Ocean Island in one bottom (says a Mebourne paper). On her two last visits to Melbourne the Invenui •has brought 0900 tons of the product each trip, or 13,800 tons in all. The phosphates carried by this vessel arc, moreover, said to be higher in. quality than any ever previously shipped from either Ocean or Mauru Islands. Captain Glasson, a popular visitor to Australian waters, is in command of the Inveran. Although still a comparatively young man, his connection with shipping goes back to 1877, when, as an apprentice, hj? arrived here from Liverpool in the immigrant ship Hospodar with 518 men. women and children as passengers aboard.
