E[J MO XT VILLAGE. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The crusher lias been in tile district! for some time and the patching of the roads is being pushed on vigorously, j much to the inconvenience of cyclists | and motorists. The wet weather isj largely responsible Jor the bad state of the roads, which are cutting up every-1 where. 1011 Tuesday the Crib Club held its, fortnightly meeting in the hall, when there was a large attendance of players. Four-handed crib was the programme for the evening. Prizes were annexed by the following:—H. -lames 1, F. CheHings 2, Eobt. Batten 3. The Club have plenty to -keep them occupied for the 'next week or so, as matches are to be played with Kaimiro, Inglewood Druids and lnglewood Bowling Club. The Hall Improvement Committee held the third of its series of euchre parties on Wednesday evening, when about (is) pla vers were assembled in the hall. The prizes were won as follows: —Ladies':| Miss L. Harvev (hand-bag) 1, Mrs. A. Mcßeth (salad-bow!) 2; Units'.: Mr. G. Cash (fountain pen) 1, Mr. D. I'riee (shaving mug and 'brush) 2. After the euchre the floor was cleared for dancing, Mr. Geo. Marsh supplying excellent music. Extras were contributed by Mrs. Mcßeth, Miss Rucld, and Mr. H. C. Fenton. Mr. 0. Kinsella acted as M.C. About 11.30 an excellent supper was handed round. The financial result was very satisfactory. The Mangorei Dairy Co. were unfortunate enough to lose a valuable horse last we«k. A special meeting of the shareholders of the Dairy Company will be held on Monday to consider a notice of motion with regard to the term of office of the] directors. Baxter was elected as a member. This is the first enrolment of a lady member in connection with the Si •Piety. It is to be hoped that it will be by uo means the last. The programme *foi the evening was "Readings from Dickens." the following contributing items:--Gordon Marsh, G. •p. Dewhirst. V. George. Geo. Marsh, 0. M. Inman, iR. G. Marsh, Geo. Foster. A. Morton and E. Davis. It was decided to hold an open night on Thursday, the 21st inst.. and a programme was arranged. The evening will be concluded by a supper and dance.
